Multifuel or wood-only: which is right for you?

Article hero image

Both types heat a room beautifully. The right choice comes down to what you’ll actually burn and how you like to run a fire.

The practical difference

A wood-only stove burns logs on a flat bed of ash, which suits wood perfectly. A multifuel stove adds a raised grate and an ashpan so air can reach smokeless fuel from below — handy if wood is hard to source, or you want the option of both.

  • Choose wood-only for the cleanest wood burning and simplest running
  • Choose multifuel for flexibility between wood and smokeless fuel
  • Either way, burn dry fuel and match the output to your room

Tell us how you plan to use it and we’ll point you to the models worth considering.
